U of U Bball game

11 February 2009
We were fortunate enough to go to a U of U basketball game back in February (thanks to Kodi's cousin Tyson, giving us extra tickets! Thanks Tyson!!!)
Kodi, Colin, Kennedy, & I all headed to the game together, & met up with Kent (Kodi's dad) & Kory (Kodi's uncle).
I must admit, I'm not a huge sports fan, but have somewhat been converted to watching some Utes & Jazz games with Kodi here & there. I'll admit, it's a lot more fun to watch Basketball & Football, once you actually understand the rules & plays. I still would much rather see a sporting event (of any kind) in person, rather than on our tiny TV at home & so, I was actually quite excited to go to the Utes vs San Diego State Basketball game.
Here are a 'few' of the pics I took at the game
Kennedy had a BLAST!!! This little girl has definitely won Daddy's heart with her love for watching sports with him.
seriously, does it get any cuter?

sadly, this was the best pic of Colin & I together (didn't help that I was taking the pic of us, & thoroughly suck at taking pics at that odd angle)

Kennedy had so much fun with Colin, while at the game. (she, as well as the rest of us, miss him dearly.. it sure was fun having him live with us for a while)
must've been pretty intense! (for both of them apparently. Kennedy was gripping her seat!)

Kennedy & Daddy showing off their tongues - after eating yummy suckers

She told me 'no more pictures' (haha, I DO take sooo many pics! She was bound to say that sooner or later)
Kennedy had so much fun dancing every time the band played music
dancing...
dancing...
Kennedy loves spending time with Grandpa Kent
Grandpa Kent bought kennedy some yummy Dippin' Dots
She really liked the Dippin' Dots ice cream.. Fortunately though for Mommy, she only ate like 5 bites & decided she was finished.. So, I got to indulge in my first ever Dippin' Dots, & I must say, they could very well be one of the yummiest ice creams I've ever tasted! I loved the texture!
This surely was a very intense & stressful game. At one point, Utah had pretty much thrown away any chance of winning.. & yet, somehow, they pulled it together to take back the big WIN! (I don't know how I survived that game... I had Kodi, Kent, Kory, & Colin all stressing out & yelling 'at' players & refs for a big chunk of the game (in my ear ;).. pretty sure I still have some hearing loss, 4 months later! ;)

I'm not gonna lie.. My very favorite part of all sporting events is when the dancers perform! It was even more of a treat to see Kodi's cousin, Kalli, as one of the dancers on the Crimson Line dance team, for the U of U.

These little girls were so adorable! I can't wait to get Kennedy into some sort of dance class! She would have so much fun doing cute little dances like these little girls did!
The final score was Utah 67, SDSU 55
Here is a link with a little info about the game

Kennedy's crayon 'art'

11 Feb 2009
Kennedy Decided she was tired of coloring just on Paper, & wanted to become a REAL artist - coloring on walls!
Luckily, the only thing Kennedy is able to get a hold of is crayons. I can't imagine how hard pen or marker would be to clean off of walls. I am so thankful for modern tools, like the handy little 'magic eraser', which makes getting crayon off of walls a cinch!
I told Kennedy that since she made the mess, she needed to clean it up. She was so good about 'helping' me clean the walls.

Luckily, since this incident, Kennedy hasn't felt the urge to draw on the walls again..yet ;)
I actually really want to get her one of those cute little easels from Ikea. I'm guessing that would be way more fun to color on than just plain paper & coloring books. Just gotta get rid of some of her other millions of toys first, so we have room for an easel.

McDonalds with friends

Such a cutie!
(I've been having trouble with blogger letting me post any words before my 1st photo. only started having this problem the last few times. anyone know of any easy fixes for this?)

11 February 2009
Back in February, My friend Laurel & I took our kids to play at the Mcdonalds by my apartment. (This was before they remodeled Mcdonalds, inside & out!)

Apparently this ice cream cone was very delicious!

Kennedy with her cute little buddy, Noah
Ok, now is that cute or what? He's totally giving her an 'admiration' look

Kennedy, with my amazing friend Laurel

Somehow, I never got a photo of Laurel's other little boy, Ezra. But he sure is a little cutie!

Happy Birthday Kennedy continued...

11 April 2009
The day after Kennedy's Birthday, Kodi & Kennedy went to Kodi's mom & step dad's house to celebrate. I wasn't able to attend, so most of my blogging of photos is off of what Kodi told me... Hopefully details are correct. If not, someone please correct me :)

Coloring Eggs with Grandma Jani

I love this little face she's pulling

Dyed Easter Eggs at Grandma's

Kennedy with Uncle DJ (Kodi's best friend from High School)

Grandpa Scott bought this pretty Princess cake for Kennedy. She absolutely loved it! She is WAY into everything having to do with Princesses right now!
I thought this little cupcake was so adorable with the little flower ring on top! Kennedy was excited to show me her flower ring when she got home.

Opening presents!

Great Grandma & Grandpa Thomas (Scott's parents), gave Kennedy this cute princess jacket

Opening Grandpa Scott's BIG present!!!

Grandpa Scott gave Kennedy a play kitchen that makes 'cooking sounds'. Kennedy has always loved playing with the play kitchen in nursery at church. Now she's in Heaven, playing with her very own play kitchen any time she wants!!!

Cute little Oliver. Looks like they make a good cooking Team!

Aunt T-T (Kodi's sister, Tiff) gave Kennedy this adorable little white summer shirt!

Kennedy's new coloring book from Grandma Jani

Kodi picked out this cute little baby doll accessories set. It came with a stroller; bouncy seat; playpen; floor mat, with toys above, for the baby doll to 'play' with; a diaper bag, that turns into a changing pad; & a little rattle; mirror; & teething ring. Kennedy is so cute with her little baby dolls. She likes to take them for walks in the stroller & always makes sure her babies get lots of rest in the little playpen.

Kennedy also got a bunch of cute summer outfits from Grandma Jani. The outfits are so stylish & make Kennedy look all grown up.
I'm pretty sure I missed some other gifts she received, so if anyone knows of anything I forgot, please, please tell me!

There was supposed to be a video of singing Happy Birthday to Kennedy, but it won't load right now. I'll try again another day.

Easter 'Egg' Hunt

love this! so precious!

11 April 2009
Kodi & I took Kennedy to the Taylorsville Park (by the Library) for the Easter 'Egg' Hunt the Saturday before Easter.
I say 'Egg' with quotations because there weren't any actual eggs at this so called Easter 'Egg' Hunt. Growing up, I remember hunting for hard boiled eggs & the little plastic eggs with candy inside. I'm guessing someone figured out over the years that it wasn't all that sanitary to be eating hard boiled eggs that had been sitting in the grass for who knows how long, so I understand why most places don't use real eggs anymore. Although, it would be nice to have atleast found 1 plastic egg on this Easter 'Egg' Hunt.
Instead there was lots of salt water taffy for the 5 years & under age group.
Let's see here, if I were to choose a 'safe' & least amount of mess candy for toddlers, I'm thinking salt water taffy would be the last thing I would think of. But, Kennedy didn't really care, of course, she just wanted candy. And, lets face it, its not like they charge to go to the Easter 'Egg' Hunt, so I guess there isn't a whole lot of room for complaints. Kennedy was a little confused why we went to an Easter 'Egg' Hunt & didn't find any eggs though.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of the actual 'hunting'. Kodi & I were too busy trying to explain to Kennedy that she needed to hurry & pick up some candy if she wanted to get any at all (man, those other little kids sure were ravenous for salt water taffy!)
Here's some cute pics I took on the way walking back to the car after the 'hunt' was over.

There was a table set up just outside the 'hunt', with flyers about a 'Preschool' for ages 2-5, & there were a couple ladies giving out balloons to all the little kids. Kennedy definitely didn't care about the 'Eggs' anymore after she got her balloon.
(My mom bought Kennedy a really cute T-shirt from the Washington D.C. National zoo, when she & Kennedy went the beginning of April.. On the shirt, it has a bunch of animals making cute silly faces. The monkey on it is pulling a silly face with it's lips pushed out.) Now, when you ask Kennedy what a monkey looks like, she makes this cute little face with her bottom lip pursed out.

She's getting really good at her 'monkey face'.. so cute

I love that Kennedy will do cute little 'poses', like hugging this pole.. My fave!

She was having a blast stepping on the base of the light pole & then jumping off! Over & over & over again...

Happy Birthday Kennedy!!! (a month late)

10 April 2009
Kennedy is now officially a TODDLER!!! She turned the big 'terrible 2' this year! And boy, she sure likes to live by that title some days!
We didn't do anything huge for her birthday this year, but she still had a blast! Kodi & I took her to McDonald's to play for a while & then headed back to our apartment to celebrate with some of my family. We celebrated on her birthday with my brother- Andrew, my cousin- Colin, my Mom- Carol, & my Dad- Marshall.
She had such a fun time opening her presents, and was so excited to be getting new toys. She (of course) didn't really care as much for the clothes I bought her.

Such a cute little lip!

She LOVES tissue paper, so I wrapped all her gifts in gift bags (works for me ;)

She was so excited to have her own 'CD player'!
This toy is so adorable. It came with 3 little plastic 'CDs', & has a slot at the top to put them in, & a door on the front to get them out. It plays a few cute songs, including 'twinkle twinkle', which is one of her favorites & says some cute little phrases.

She was so excited to show off her 'Curious George Bathtub Airplane'
It's a pull and go toy that works on dry or wet surfaces. Unfortunately, since George can be pulled out, he tends to get 'lost' a lot.

This was Kennedy's favorite of all! The 'Leapfrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Alphabet set'. She loves her ABC's & this toy is the perfect tool for her to listen to the sounds each letter makes! She loves singing along with the ABC song it plays & repeating the sounds each letter makes.

This year, we took Kennedy to Sam's Club & let her pick whatever cake she wanted...
Apparently, she is a HUGE chocolate fan! This cake was actually quite different & pretty. We were surprised that she picked it over all the character cakes, & it ended up being really delicious (which never happens for Kodi & I, since we don't like cake. But this cake was good!) & REALLY RICH!

Kennedy also celebrated her birthday the next day with Kodi's family. That will be my next post...
